Five killed in accident at Krishnagiri

A tractor carrying 12 labourers was heading towards Dekota village in Andhra Pradesh, when a Bengaluru-bound omni bus from Sivakasi hit the tractor.

Five persons, including a three-month-old infant were killed and seven persons grievously injured in a collision between a tractor and a bus here at Errahalli near Kaveripattinam on Thursday.

The victims hailing from Savulur village in Noolahalli taluk of Dharmapuri were enroute for farm work to Andhra Pradesh on a tractor, when their vehicle was hit by a private luxury bus.

The tractor carrying was 12 persons, including the infant from Savulur village was headed to Dekota village in Andhra Pradesh as labour for manufacture of cordage from aloe vera. The tractor was crossing Errahalli here near Kaveripattinam, when a Bengaluru-bound omni bus from Sivakasi hit the tractor.

The five victims Munusamy (50), Malli (65), Muthu(20), Vasanthi(45) and the infant were killed on the spot. . 

Seven others injured were taken to Krishnagiri government medical college hospital while others were sent to the Upgraded Primary Health Center at Kaveripattinam. The Kaveripattinam police have registered a case. The accused driver Karupusamy(50) from Virudhunagar was held.

Earlier, Collector Deepak Jacob inspected the accident spot and visited the surviving victims at the government headquarters medical college hospital.

Chief Minister’s relief

Chief Minister M.K. Stalin condoled the deaths and announced a solatium of ₹2 lakh to the families of each of the deceased and ₹50,000 to the injured from the Chief Minister Relief Fund.
