The District Child Protection Committee met under Collector S.Prabhakar at the Collectorate to ascertain child protection and welfare protocols to be followed while dealing with children in need of care and protection and also those in conflict with the law. The meeting, under the aegis of the Collector, perused the action taken report on the resolutions passed at the previous meeting.

Addressing the stakeholders, Mr.Prabhakar said that children, who were subjected to sexual abuse, should be taken for medical test without delay and the stakeholders should ensure that adequate care and counselling was given to the affected child. He also asked officials to ensure that children raised in NGO-run shelters are provided with birth and community certificates.

N.Sultan Aribeen, Chairperson of the Juvenile Justice Board and Judicial Magistrate I, urged the officials to ensure FIR was filed against those who performed child marriages, and those who were party to child marriages. The District Social Welfare Officer, who is also the officer in-charge of prevention of child marriages, shall ensure that cases were registered against offenders under the Prevention of Child Marriage, Act, 2006.
