School children wearing helmets carried out awareness campaign in Coimbatore.

As a part of its Corporate Social Responsibility initiative ‘Helmet Saves’, Exide Life Insurance recently held an awareness drive in the city.

The awareness drive was conducted in collaboration with the Coimbatore Traffic Police and RVS School, Sulur. The drive saw students, police personnel and Exide Life volunteers gathering at busy junctions close to the school to convey the message on the importance of getting children wear helmets.

The students took out a rally and distributed pamphlets on helmet safety to motorists. The school students wearing helmets along with Exide Life Insurance volunteers spoke to two-wheeler riders, especially those with their children riding pillion without helmet.

Mohit Goel, director - Marketing and Direct Channel, Exide Life Insurance said that they conducted a survey and found that child pillion riders did not wear helmet. The alarming trend of children not wearing helmets spurred the company into expanding its focus this year to child safety.

Exide Life Insurance planned to expand its campaign to Pune, Jaipur, Mysuru and Bhopal in collaboration with the respective city traffic police in support of Road Safety Week from February 4 and 10.
