When its efforts to collect public opinion for the Smart City project did not yield the desired result, the Coimbatore Corporation on Friday sent out three vehicles to bus stands and other important thoroughfares to reach out to the people.

According to Commissioner K. Vijayakarthikeyan, the vehicles will reach the public at bus stands, shopping areas, schools and other vantage locations where people could pen down suggestions for the Smart City project.

Their ideas and opinions will be incorporated in the second round and subsequent discussions. The civic body will also use FM radio stations and bulk sms to reach more numbers. Sources said that the Corporation will continue the exercise for a few days. Aside from the pen-and-paper method, the Corporation will have booths where there will be laptops with internet connection and citizens can walk in, participate in the online poll and help the civic body.
