To mark the breast cancer awareness month that began on October 1, Sri Ramakrishna Institute of Oncology and Research (SRIOR) has launched specially designed mobile phone covers.

The phone covers with pink ribbon logo has a QR code, scanning of which will redirect the user to links such as animated website, cancer awareness helpline, videos, mobile app, e-books and short film on breast cancer.

Sri Ramakrishna Hospital’s Chief Business Officer Swathi Rohit, Chief Operating Officer Ramakrishna Vijayakumhar, Director of Sri Ramakrishna Institute of Oncology and Research (SRIOR) P. Guhan, and surgical oncologist K. Karthikesh launched the mobile covers.

The mobile covers are designed and manufactured for almost all popular phones in Android and iOS platforms.

The covers will be distributed free of cost throughout October.

People who wish to be part of the awareness campaign can text their mobile phone model and mobile number to WhatsApp number 95007-22667 or email to breastcancersrior@gmail.com They will receive details on the collection of the cover depending on the availability.

Dr. Guhan said the concept of spreading awareness by wearing a pink band or badge for breast cancer awareness throughout October was widely followed in the West. SRIOR has also announced free mammogram screening programme this month.
