Books worth ₹ 1 crore to be distributed to govt. schools

Books worth ₹ 1 crore will be distributed to 470 select government and Corporation schools across four districts on July 5 under The Hindu – Read and Rise initiative.

The Hindu Group and Thyrocare Technologies Limited have collaborated for this project of strengthening the libraries of government schools, according to a press release. The schools in Coimbatore, Tiruppur, Erode and the Nilgiris districts will benefit through this initiative, with each school receiving a set of 130 books.

K. Rajamani, District Collector, and A. Velumani, managing director, Thyrocare Technologies Limited, would attend the function to be held at Presentation Convent Girls’ Higher Secondary School between 11 a.m. and 12.30 p.m., the release said.

The Hindu – Read and Rise is an initiative of The Hindu Group with an aim to develop the habit of reading among the underprivileged students, students in government and government aided schools, according to the release.
