A blood donation camp was held for the police personnel at Tamil Nadu Special Force (TSF) 4 Battalion in Kovaipudur here on Friday.

The function was inaugurated by Sumit Sharan, Commissioner of Police, following which he donated blood.

In his inaugural address, Mr. Sharan stressed on the importance of blood donation and urged the participants to donate blood to save lives.

Apart from Mr. Sharan, L. Balaji Saravanan, Deputy Commissioner of Police, also donated blood.

B. Asokan, Dean, Coimbatore Medical College Hospital, and A. Mangayarkarasi, Medical Officer of the CMCH Blood Bank, took part in the event.

Mr. Asokan told The Hindu that nearly 300 police personnel donated blood at the camp.
