A Bharat Gaurav train will be operated in the Coimbatore-Shirdi sector and the registered service provider has made the security deposit, a release said.
According to a release from the Southern Railway, one of the registered service providers has made a security deposit of ₹1 crore for operating a Bharat Gaurav train for circuit tour in the Coimbatore – Shirdi sector and the operations are likely to commence in May.
The service is said to be the first in the country under the scheme.
A release said that the Southern Railway has received highest number of registrations under the scheme in the country - seven - till date.
Under the scheme launched in November 2021, theme-based trains would be operated and the Indian Railways has earmarked pool of coaches under various categories, AC-I, AC-II, AC-III, SL AC chair car, pantry car, and SLR for operation of these services. Railways would get the revenue in the form of right to use charges for the rake, haulage charges, empty haulage charges, stabling charges and under various other heads, it said.
