District Collector S.A. Raman inaugurated awareness campaigns conducted as part of Poshan Abhiyaan at the Salem Collectorate on Monday.

Mr. Raman launched a signature campaign organised by the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) in the district. An exhibition on nutrition-rich foods for mother and children was held as part of the event. Anganwadi workers took part in the campaign and distributed awareness pamphlets to visitors.

In Namakkal, a samudhaya valaikaappu was organised for 2,000 pregnant women by the ICDS under the Social Welfare and Nutritious Meal Programme department on Monday. District Collector K. Megraj and Namakkal MLA K.P.P. Bhaskar took part in the event.

Mr. Megraj advised women to include nutritious foods like green leafy vegetables in their diet and follow doctor’s prescription.
