J. Divya (19) of Kotagiri in The Nilgiris, who was studying second year B.Com. in V.N.K. College of Arts and Science for Women at Odanthurai near Mettupalayam, was found dead in an open well near the college hostel in the early hours on Wednesday.
Police said that the hosteller was found dead in the 60-foot-deep well which had water to the height of about 15 feet. Police recovered a suicide note reportedly written by the girl. Fire and rescue personnel retrieved the body and sent it to Coimbatore Medical College Hospital for post-mortem.
