Outpatient services hit in districts

Disciplinary action has been initiated by way of transfers and departmental action against the coordinators of the Federation of Government Doctors Association here on Thursday. Similarly, show-cause notices were issued to the doctors of taluk hospitals for absenting themselves from work.

One of the coordinators Rangasamy, attached to Karimangalam upgraded PHC was transferred to Pudukottai; and Venkatesan, of Dharmapuri Government Medical College Hospital. also a coordinator of the protests was issued show-cause notice.

In the four taluk hospitals of Pennagaram, Paapireddypatty, Harur, and Palacodde, of the 63 doctors, 19 were absent. They were given show-cause notices.

Outpatient services were hit by the ongoing strike in the two districts.

In Dharmapuri Government Medical College Hospital, PHCs and taluk hospitals, medical services were carried out even while a significant number of over 250 doctors struck work in pursuance of their long-standing demands. In Krishnagiri taluk, 75 doctors stayed off from work while participating in the strike. Outpatient services came to a standstill here.

Earlier, the Federation of Government Doctors Association also met the media, calling attention to their demands and slamming the government’s refusal to engage with the protesting doctors.
