Members of Tamil Nadu Nutritious Meal Employees Association observed a fast here on Friday urging the State Government to revise their pay scale based on the recommendations of the Sixth Pay Commission.
Members claimed that the government was providing special time scale of pay to the employees working in nutritious meal scheme.
They wanted the government to regularise all the nutritious meal employees as full-time government workers with revised pay scale and provide all the benefits that should accrue to those who worked in such positions.
Members also wanted the government to provide pension benefits to all the nutritious meal employees.
Efforts should be initiated to appoint eligible workers for the vacant posts in the social welfare and various other departments of the government.
They met the district officials and submitted a petition.
Association district president S. Sampath Kumar led the protest.
