Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) on Sunday organised ‘Saksham 2017’, a fuel-efficient driving contest for car owners, in association with Hyundai. As many as 51 car owners took part in the awareness campaign on oil and gas conservation.
Organisers said the contest was organised to highlight this year’s theme ‘Indhan Samrakshan ki Zimmedaari, Jan Gan Ki Bhaagidhaari', which means ‘public participation in conservation of fuel’.
The 56 km-long contest started from Ravichandra Auto, an IOCL Outlet at Anna Salai. The participants were asked to drive through Avinashi Road, Kalapatti Main Road, and Mettupalayam Main Road before reaching the destination at Black Thunder, Mettupalayam.
All the cars were filled with fuel at the petrol station at Anna Salai and winners were chosen for their fuel-efficient driving skills.
The contest was flagged off at 8.45 a.m. jointly by T.G. Nagarajan, General Manager (Lubes), Indian Oil, Tamil Nadu State Office, and P. Srivatsan, Regional Parts and Service Manager, Hyundai Motor India Ltd. It was held for four categories of cars, Hyundai Grand i10 (diesel), Hyundai Grand i10 (petrol), Hyundai Elite i20 (diesel), and Hyundai Elite i20 (petrol). Prizes were given to two winners each from all categories.
R. Udayakumar, Deputy General Manager (Lubes), Indian Oil, Tamil Nadu State Office, and C. Sarathkumar, Chief Divisional Retail Sales Manager, Coimbatore Divisional Office, were also present.
