Jewellery stolen

Gold jewellery weighing about 190 gm were burgled from two houses in Karumathampatty sub division on Sunday. C. Balaji (30), a doctor from Theeran Chinnamalai Nagar near Karumathampatty, found jewellery weighing about 80 gm missing when he returned home after paying a visit to his relative’s house. P. Kandhavel (43), a resident of Savithiri Nagar, Chinthamani, in Sulur who worked as a fitter in a private industry, found jewellery weighing about 125 gm missing. He was away at a relative’s place when his neighbour alerted him about the burglary.

Chain snatched

An unidentified motorcycle rider snatched a gold chain weighing about 50 gm from G. Rajalakshmi (69), a resident of VOC Nagar in Ganapathy, during the late hours of Sunday.

Boy held

The police have arrested a 17-year-old boy of Periyar Nagar in Masakalipalayam on Sunday for allegedly selling ganja near a public lavatory at Gandhi Nagar in Uppilipalayam. The police said that 700 gm of the contraband substance was seized from him.
