With works progressing at a rapid pace on the Gandhipuram flyover project, foundation and superstructure works will go on simultaneously now, according to an official of the State Highways Department.

The official said that almost 75 per cent of the foundation works for the first level have been completed. The Rs. 162-crore project is expected to be completed before April 2017.

Though there are a couple of bottlenecks, these will be sorted out. Shifting of three temples on the stretch is expected to be completed in the next few days, the official added.

The major portion of the funds in the project is for the first level. It will be a four-lane flyover for 1.75 km from Nanjappa Road to Omni Bus Stand.

The second-level will be a two-lane flyover for 1.22 km from the Seventh Cross on Hundred Feet Road and will end near Avarampalayam junction.
