The Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) on Wednesday launched the sale of 5-kg LPG cylinders. It will be available across the counters of LPG dealers, petrol pumps and supermarkets.
Speaking to reporters after the launch, R. Sitharthan, Executive Director (Tamilnadu and Puducherry), IOCL, said that 95 % of the households in the State have started using LPG.
Out of the total number of 12,750 villages, 1,990 villages are smokeless as 100 % households in these villages have shifted to LPG.
The IOCL also launched LPG -powered iron box for laundrymen.
Mr. Sitharathan also said that IOCL has also planned a ₹ 42,263- crore investments in Tamil Nadu during the next three years.
Of the proposed investments, it has planned to execute pipeline expansion, construction of terminals, captive jetty, additional facilities for petrol and diesel product handling at an estimate cost of ₹ 7,112 crore, investing ₹ 5,151 crore in IOCL-Ennore LNG Terminal on Joint Venture basis and expanding the capacity of Chennai Petro Chemical Limited Narimanam Refinery to nine MMTPA at an estimated cost of ₹ 30,000 crore.
