44 breeds on dog show in Coimbatore

Canines from various States and a few international breeds took part in the 52nd and 53rd All India All Breeds Championship held here on Sunday.

The event, organised by the Coimbatore Kennel Club here, was an opportunity for residents of the city to get a glimpse of so many different breeds, says C.B. Srinivasan, a spectator.

According to the organisers, as many as 325 animals of 44 different breeds took part, including 20 Indian breeds and 19 city police dogs.

The show also witnessed four participants from Ireland.

Foreign breeds such as the Afghan Hound, Siberian Husky and Poodle, besides Belgian Shepherd took part.

Each breed was evaluated on different parameters.

Categorised

The contestants were categorised under seven grounds such as toy, terrier, utility, hound etc.

The event judges - Thomas Lim and Stanley Shen – were from Singapore.

The owners were informed six months in advance to train the breeds for the event.
