21 buffaloes found inside a container lorry seized

They were on way to Palakkad from Mandya

Animal right activists blocked a container truck that was carrying 21 buffaloes, near Saravanampatty on Saturday. R. Aathi Ganesh, district secretary of Aathi Tamilar Viduthalai Katchi, who stopped the truck, said the truck was heading to Palakkad from Mandya in Karnataka.

A case was registered under Sections 11(a), 11(b), 11(c), 11(d), 11(e), 11(f), 11(g) and 11(h) of Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act. The animal right activists asked the police invoke sections of the Indian Penal Code.The buffaloes were taken to Velliangiri Goshala.

The police on Saturday let off two Plus-Two students against whom the parents of a girl filed a complaint of harassment, after they tendered an apology. The girl said that they were continuously harassing her, and even picked up a fight with his brother when he tried to prevent them.

Her parents took up the matter with the school management, but were unhappy with their response.Stones thrown

Unidentified persons threw stones at the house of V. Anbumari (38) a resident of Nehru Nagar. He heads the Kongu Youth Wing of Indu Makkal Katchi.
