2 killed by elephants

Two persons were killed by elephants in different places near Gudalur on Wednesday night. According to the police, when two persons were proceeding on a motorcycle near Irumbupaalam on the Gudalur-Kozhikode road, around 8.30 p.m., they suddenly spotted a wild elephant standing on the road. With their vehicle falling down, the pillion rider Jeeva (38) had tried to escape but was reportedly attacked by the elephant. He died on the spot. The rider Rajendran who was injured in the fall, has been hospitalised. In another incident which occurred around the same time near Silver Cloud estate, a watchman Chathri (65) who was going home after work was killed by an elephant.
