All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam general secretary Jayalalithaa on Wednesday promised to provide the people of Tamil Nadu with golden reign, if they voted out the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam in the April 13 elections to the Assembly.

She was seeking votes for the AIADMK-led front's candidates at a public meeting in the city. If the DMK retained power, the entire State would become the property of a family, which had already sought to take control of the film industry, the television media, real estate and also natural resources such as sand and granite.

The benefit of the 2G spectrum scam went to one family and a former Union Minister and his friend had become scapegoats. The Centre that was supposed to punish the DMK was delaying any action for fear of losing power, if the party pulled out of the United Progressive Alliance in protest.

The dyeing industry in Tirupur was hit because of the DMK Government's slackness in solving the problem of pollution.

Communist Party of India (Marxist) general secretary Prakash Karat said a dark chapter in the history of Tamil Nadu would be over if the AIADMK-led front won the elections.

Mr. Karat said the 2G spectrum scam had shamed the people of the State. Hence, they would not wait for the CBI report or a court verdict.

Communist Party of India general secretary A.B. Bardhan said that after winning the elections, Ms. Jayalalithaa should lead the battle to unseat the corrupt regime at the Centre.

Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam presidium chairman Panrutti S. Ramachandran asked the DMK not to worry about Ms. Jayalalithaa and his party leader Vijayakant not appearing on the same stage. “You can see them together in the Assembly after May 13,” he said.
