In a fresh twist to the Sheena Bora murder case, in connection with which former INX CEO Indrani Mukherjea was arrested yesterday, Indrani Mukherjea's son Mikhail Bora, the brother of the deceased, on Wednesday made a sensational disclosure that Sheena was Ms. Mukherjea's daughter and not her sister as was being reported.
The revelation by Mr Bora in Guwahati, Assam to reporters has given a new angle to the Mumbai police investigations in the 2012 murder case. The police had suspected a property or monetary dispute as the motive behind the murder.
Sources now say that Ms. Mukherjea was upset over Sheena's alleged relationship with Rahul, Peter's son from a previous marriage, which she disapproved. Peter claimed that even he did not know the actual relationship between the victim-accused duo, corroborating claims made by Mikhail Bora.

Mikhail also dismissed the property angle as a reason for her murder and said that he was aware of the exact reason which he would reveal to police if Indrani failed to do so. He told the media that he and his sister were introduced as Ms. Mukherjea's siblings to everyone in Mumbai, including her husband Peter.
Indrani, a former HR consultant and Peter got married in 2002 after a whirlwind romance and soon after marriage she started taking an active interest in the media business. This was a second marriage for both who had children from their previous marriages.
Indrani Mukherjea was arrested by the Khar police on Tuesday after the police stumbled on the murder case, following a tip off that led the police to Indrani’s driver Shyam Rai. Based on specific information, the police detained and questioned Rai who confessed his role in killing Sheena at Indrani’s instance, and dumping her body in Raigad district in 2012. A missing case was registered in 2012 after Sheena Bora went mysteriously missing, but remained unsolved.
Indrani and Rai were arrested under Section 302 (murder), 201 (destruction of evidence) and 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code and produced before a Mumbai court which remanded them in police custody till August 31 on Tuesday. Mumbai police commissioner Rakesh Maria, known for his interrogation skills, personally questioned Indrani after her arrest, and is supervising investigations
Peter and Indrani were the promoters of INX Media Pvt Limited which started the News X channel, and had stepped down from the management positions in 2009-10. Three channels were launched as part of INX media — News X, entertainment channel 9 X and music channel, 9XM.
