BJP: Gujarat cooperating in probe

March 12, 2010 12:10 am | Updated November 17, 2021 07:10 am IST - NEW DELHI:

The Gujarat government has been cooperating with the investigating agencies and will continue to do so, BJP spokesman Prakash Javadekar said here on Thursday. He was reacting to news that the Supreme Court-appointed Special Investigation Team had summoned Chief Minister Narendra Modi to appear before it on March 21.

The party said “false cases” were foisted four-and-half years after the incidents. It questioned the summoning of Mr. Modi on a complaint by Zakia Jaffrey, wife of the former Congress MP Ehsan Jaffrey who was killed during the Gulberg Society riots.

Mr. Javadekar said he was sure that Mr. Modi would respond to the summons.
