Summers in the city are best enjoyed by the sea. With temperatures soaring, it’s time to bring out your stylish beach wear, swim in the blue waters along the ECR, sip on cocktails and watch some entertaining acts at the second edition of The Spoken Word on March 11. Started by Nimisha Sara Philip and Varshita Ravindranathan, the social talent gathering creative platform moves from the colonial old-world interiors of Luz House to the outdoors.
This goes well with the new campaign The Spoken Word is supporting — #iwillgoout. “It’s to do with women empowerment. The other causes we are associated with are collective responsibility for beach cleanliness and adoption of puppies,” says Philip. Dog lovers can spend time by the puppy pen, petting a bunch of adorable mongrels. “Pets are allowed; so, feel free to bring them along. But be sure to scoop up their poop,” adds Ravindranathan.
For the adventurous lot, on the agenda are adrenaline-pumping activities such as paramotoring, scuba diving, surfing and ATV rides, along with martial arts, yoga and pilates.
Once the sun sets, the place turns into a performance arena with The Diva Collective, Bjorn and the Box, Soul Street, Vertigo, Attva, NOBB and a bunch of other bands taking to the stage.
And, if all the activities and dancing make you hungry, grab a quick bite from the food stalls that stock everything from burgers and pastas to sinful desserts.
