Hard pressed for time to experience Laad Bazar with friends visiting you in Hyderabad? Book a cab or hop into an auto and say, “ Bhaiya, Lakdikapul chalo” . Why Lakdikapul? No we didn’t discover a substitute for Laad Bazar in Lakdikapul, instead we have stumbled upon an eatery that has the Laad Bazar theme in one of its family section dining areas. Chicha’s — asli Hyderabadi, the eatery that has everything from bheja fry to tala huwa gosht to biryani and paya shorba throughout the year has upped its theme ante. To add a new look to one of their new dining sections, the owners decided to add a twist.

Fauzan Khan and Qutub Alam Khan did what they would never do otherwise. “Go to Laad Bazar. Probably as kids we might have tagged along our mom and aunts. As an adult I remember going past that lane even when friends visited and heading straight to where one gets food. You know, doing the very touristy things along with friends. This time however, Fauzan and I went to the lane, saw some shops, took notice of the things that makes Laad Bazar what it is and decided to make a replica of it right here,” says Qutub Alam Khan.

As we walk up the stairs, we notice the walls look like a window display of a shop that sells zari works. These flight of steps lead diners to a long dining section. “This is our ‘family section’. We want families, especially the ladies, to feel comfortable when they come to our restaurant,” says Fauzan.

Inside the dining section, one wall is completely made to look like a display window of the bangles shops. Rows and rows of vertical columns of bangles add colour to the room done in white and reflective mirrors with the Charminar print in gold. “Just like the bangles stores. If you notice, we also have those small fans that whirr at an insane speed the moment it is switched on,” adds Fauzan. “The fans are an integral part of bangle shops at Laad Bazar,” laughs Qutub, suggesting that in the evening it will be quite nice to sit at the end of the room that overlooks the main road.

Can one also buy bangles here? “Very soon we will start the sale too,” says Qutub.
