A whirlwind of colours is what strikes you instantly at Redbow -- midnight blues, moss green, striking fuchsia, hot pink and pastel whites. Blooms of every hue compete for the first glimpse!

For Tiruchi-ites who have always wanted to say it with flowers, but had to contend with squeezed-in-the-corner florists stocking flowers blurring the lines between dried and fresh, this house of flowers as Redbow calls itself is a fragrant surprise- literally!

Ejula Mathew, proprietor is not entirely new to the business of blooms. “I've taken online orders for many years. There is a local demand for fresh flowers which is not matched by supply. That spurred me to hit upon this enterprise.” Redbow was also inspired by her sister's similar set up in Kottayam.

Aesthetically pleasing floral arrangements fashioned out of dried and fresh flowers take up the 800 square feet air-conditioned space, interrupted with mirrors, crystal bowls and glass mugs.

From expensive but tastefully arranged bouquets to single stalks, Redbow tries to cater to all budgets. There are occasions that call for a single red rose or lily to define the moment and times when you are not particularly disposed to digging too deep into your pocket- Redbow comes to your rescue in moments like these.

“It is difficult to walk off with a single stalk in most flower shops that sell only bouquets. But we allow customers to choose what and how much they want,” says Ejula.

From the garden city are pink and white carnations, red and gold anthuriums, purple and pink chrysanthemums and roses of many shades, though the latter could do with better display. If the expensive and exotic is your calling, orchids, birds of paradise, and Asiatic lilies should make for fascinating finds.

If you are visiting someone in the hospital and can't choose between flowers and fruits, don't worry. Redbow offers hospital hampers that come with a stand studded with pretty carnation bunched on top and choice of fruits below. Most of them last three days to a week, as they come fitted with moisture retaining pads.

Brides never had it so good with plenty to choose what to walk down the aisle with. For a sophisticated touch, try the bridal bouquet with gold deco roses and dried corn flowers. Or if you think nothing can beat ‘that which by any other name would smell as sweet', then cruise along with the red and white rose basket. But if you want to make a statement, the silver and gold crystal bridal spray is the one!

A section of the store is designated for dried flower arrangements, table top arrangements, scented potpourri topped with gauzy ribbons and the like. Costing anywhere between Rs. 12- 30, there are stalks of mahogany pods, sola flowers, cedar roses, strabus pine, all in earthy browns and warm beiges.

To complete your gifting ideas, are teddies, scented candles, cakes and candies. It has never been a better time to say it with flowers!

Redbow is located next to Hotel Grand Gardenia(Kanappa) at Mannarpuram. For details, contact: 9443017296, 0431-2423581.
