It was all about couture and glamour at The Park recently which hosted the second edition of Kyron Vizag Fashion Week.

Five established fashion designers and a few students of JD Institute of Fashion Technology participated in the show.

Hosted just before Diwali, the opening show was a festive collection by designers Reshma and Riyaz Ganji. Displayed under the label ‘Libas’, the collection had a mix of heavily-worked traditional wear and contemporary innovations. The conventionally embellished outfits were designed in festive colours like greens and blues. The collection also had noticeable drapes in muted metallic shades.

Lehengas, drapes, ethnic gowns and bandhgalas found a place in their collection. With solid blues and blacks dominating the men’s collection, the designers played with the cuts and gave the bandhgalas a contemporary look.

Tailored to perfection

“The collection was crafted keeping in mind the preferences of the people in South India. We are aware that silk saris are a must-have here. Therefore we decided to play with that. We designed lehengas in silk fabric with contemporary cuts for blouses,” says Reshma, co-founder of the label. The duo’s collection has been donned by several Bollywood celebrities. In a heavily worked light blue gown, model Dimple Patel walked the ramp for them as their showstopper.

It’s spring already

After a shiny and ethnic festive collection, Hari Anand’s spring collection that was dominated by pastel colours came as a breath of fresh air. Sticking to his mantra of minimalism, the designer put up a show that displayed the elegance of simplicity. From kurtis and dresses to maxis and flowing gowns, Hari incorporated various elements of Nature by designing the clothes with motifs of blooming flowers, leaves and creepers.

“This is a sneak peek of the Spring 2019 collection that I am designing. The subtle colours have been carefully chosen to go with the shades of spring. Every print and embroidery has been inspired by Nature,” says the Kochi-based designer.

Standing out from the rest of the dresses of his collection was fiery red gown that his showstopper actor Hamsa Nandini wore. With a plunging neckline and a high slit, the dress stole the show.

Several other designers like Red Blue Sisters, Nazia Syed and Nanda Yadav displayed their collections at the two-day event.
