Centre assures Rs 60 crore for Software Technology Park

The Centre has assured Rs 60 crore to set up a Software Technology Park on the premises of a Special Economic Zone here, Minister of for State Planning V Narayanasamy said today.

Speaking to reporters here he said he had taken up the proposal with Union Communication Minister A. Raja and there were “strong indications” that the funds would be sanctioned.

Narayanasamuy said The National Institute of Technology sanctioned for Puducherry by the HRD Ministry might be set up in Karaikal with the Centre’s investment.

He said the union territory’s plea to upgrade it into a full fledged state was being actively considered by the Centre and that a bill in this regard was likely to be tabled on the floor of Parliament in the next budget session.
