Investiture ceremony at A.V.P. Trust School

Tirupur New members of the student council were inducted at A.V.P. Trust Public School in an investiture ceremony held recently. The chief guest Prof. Dr.Muthuswamy, Principal, A.V.P. College of Arts & Science and A.Karthikeyan, Chairman, A.V.P Trust Institutions, presented the badges. Latha Karthikeyan, Treasurer of A.V.P. Trust and C.Karpagam, Principal, applauded the Council Members and the Club Secretaries. The staff club secretaries were also introduced

Chennai : Investiture ceremony of St. Bede’s Academy - CBSE curriculum, Santhome, was held recently. Chief guest Rev.Fr. Gilbert Jayaraj, Headmaster of St. Bede’s A.I. Hr. School, took the salute. Master Luxon C L and Master Daniel Paul Samuel were selected as the SPL and ASPL.

Tiruchirapalli: Chellammal Vidyalaya CBSE, Thiruverambur, organised an Investiture Ceremony last week. Chendur Selvan, Secretary of the school, was the chief guest. The former student council members handed over the sashes and badges to Principal Usha Kumaraswamy. Daniel, School Head Boy of the year 2014-15, shared his experience of leading the council. He stressed the importance of working as a team and walking an extra mile to achieve a common goal. Sashes and badges were awarded to the house captains, vice captains, house masters and mistress of the four houses, Indus, Nile, Congo and Everest.

The student council took an oath to live up to the expectations and work in sync with the mission of the school. Mr. Chenthur Selvan congratulated the newly elected council and delivered a motivational speech emphasising the significance of leadership.

Yoga gets a place in timetable

 

Coimbatore : International Yoga Day was celebrated at Dora Montessori Schools and The Western Ghats International School. Yoga trainer Padmavathi, Assistant Professor of World Vision Center, Coimbatore, demonstrated various asanas and forms of meditation. Yoga and meditation were incorporated in the regular timetable.

Pudukkottai : An awareness programme on Nutrition and Exercise was conducted at Mount Zion Matriculation Higher Secondary School recently. Dr. Prabakaradoss, from Team Physio Clinic, Pudukkottai, was the chief guest. Dr. Prabakaradoss gave a presentation on diet, BMI and exercises and tips on staying fit and healthy. Senior Principal Dr. Jonathan. J, correspondent Jayabarathan Chelliah were present.

Students measure circumference of the Earth

 

Chennai : To create awareness on vegetarianism, the students of Shri Natesan Vidyasala MHSS., Mannivakkam, organised a 'Food Fest' in their school premises. The students of class IX and XI showcased their culinary skills, presenting a variety of traditional, vegetarian Indian cuisines. The team that prepared the best dish with high nutritional value, low calorie and less oil, bagged the prizes.

The Space Club of the school organised Summer Solstice workshop giving hands on experience on the experiments of Eratosthenes, a Greek astronomer. The club members elaborated on the importance and simplicity of the experiment, taking scientific measurements and performing calculations with the procured data. The students measured the Sun angle to their geographic location to calculate the circumference of the Earth.

Tirunelveli: Pushpalata Vidya Mandir, Tirunelveli, organised investiture ceremony to handover charges to the new student leaders. Senior Principal Pushpaveni Ayyappan inducted the students for the posts of head boy, head girl, prefects, sports captains and the heads of the cultural clubs. The newly elected council members took an oath of office.

Yoga teacher does school proud

 

Chennai : M. Sudhakar, yoga teacher, Reserve Bank Staff Quarters School was honoured with ‘The Best Yoga Teacher’ award from Tamil Nadu Sports Yogasana Association on International Day. He was one among the 50 teachers who received the award out of 138 nominated from all over Tamil Nadu.

On improving memory, concentration

Tiruchirapalli: R.S.K Hr. Secondary, Trichy, conducted a seminar for its students on Memory improvement. Rohit from Anand Foundation Life Education Society was the resource person, who spoke about the two levels of mind and their roles.

He elaborated on the powers of conscious and subconscious mind.

“A nursery rhyme learnt 15 years ago can be remembered. But the poem that was learnt the previous day is out of our mind. What is etched in the conscious mind is for a short period of time and what is stored in the subconscious mind is for a long period of time,” he said.

Mr. Rohit gave practical tips to tap the potential of subconscious mind. He also gave tips to improve the concentration power.

Yoga Day at Sangford

 

Kancheepuram : Sangford School, Kancheepuram, celebrated International Yoga Day with a yoga session. The celebration was attended by students from classes I to X, teachers and parents.

Book fair organised at Satchidananda

 

Mettupalayam : Satchidananda Jothi Nikethan International School Kallar, Mettupalayam, organised a three-day book fair recently. It was inaugurated by R.Rajendran, Principal, PSG College of Arts and Science, Coimbatore. In his address, Dr. Rajendran emphasised that reading is a beneficial habit. He said that books can change one's life. He further advised the students to use the school library regularly. As many as 30,000 books were exhibited by various publications.

Sivananda students perform asanas

  Sri Sivananda Balalaya celebrated Yoga Day with a special session by yoga master VijayKumar. Students from classes IV to X participated enthusiastically in the asana sessions. VijayKumar spoke about the ill-effects of junk food and the need to keep oneself fit.

Vaels students excel in international arena

 

Chennai : Three teams comprising of 9 students from Vaels International School, Injambakkam, participated in a week-long global round of World Scholars Cup competitions held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Contests including debate and creative writing were conducted. They returned home winning several trophies under various categories.

Mega yoga event at Valluvar Gurukulam

 

Tambaram Valluvar Gurukulam Group of Schools celebrated International Yoga Day in association with Bharath Vikas Parishad. Yoga specialist Jayasree and Shankar, All India Additional Secretary General, Bharath Vikas Parishad, were the guests. Around 300 students participated in the mega yoga event. Secretary D.K.Srinivasan, Advisor and heads of the institutions were also present.

Road safety workshop

 

Chennai : Velammal Vidhyashram, in association with Regional Transport Office, organised a road safety workshop for the drivers of Velammal School and College, private drivers and conductors last week. The programme was initiated by the Value Education Wing of Life Skills Department. G. Sampath Kumar, Regional Transport Officer, Redhills, Chennai, the chief guest of the programme, spoke about various Road Safety measures.

He issued Drivers ID cards with Road Safety Pledge printed to reinforce safety measures to drivers. Motor Vehicle Inspector’s Nedumaran, Ramesh and Murugasen presented an audio-visual educative on road safety.

Pollachi: Tamil Literary Club of Vidya Nethrra Matric Higher Secondary School, Gomangalampudur, Pollachi, was inaugurated by Muthamil Arasi Dr.Saraswathi Ramanathan.
