October has been a busy month at schools in Tamil Nadu, and here’s a look at what all took place

Adarsh Matric Interact Club raises relief funds

Tirupur: The Interact Club of Sree Adarsh Matriculation Higher Secondary School participated in the inauguration and installations of the Rotaract and Interact Clubs held at IMA Hall in Udumalpet.

The school Interact members collected Rs 113360 as funds for Jammu and Kashmir flood relief, and handed it over to Rotarian M.P.K. Sridharan Nambiar, district governor. It was the first successful project for the school Interactors.

 Devi Academy works towards ‘Swachh Bharath’

Chennai: Devi Academy Senior Secondary School, Valasaravakkam conducted a rally on the theme ‘World Peace and Clean India’, as part of the Swachh Bharath campaign.

The students of classes VIII, IX & X carried placards bearing slogans and message of peace and importance of cleanliness and went in a procession around the neighbourhood. The rally was flagged off by MLF. LN. Vir Prakash Gulecha Jain, Vice President, Karuna International, Chennai Kendra and the Principal Malathy Sreenivasan, who also addressed the students, emphasizing the importance of maintaining peace in the world and on how one can start from self hygiene and clean surroundings at home and school and later on carry it over to neighbourhood, city and so on.

Events galore at Don Bosco School, Puducherry

Puducherry: Don Bosco Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Tagore Nagar promoted ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’ launched by the Prime Minister.

The students cleaned the classrooms and school campus.

An oath was also taken in this regard. Essay writing and drawing competitions were also organised in which students participated with zeal.

In the State Level Hand Writing Contest 13 students came first at different levels.

They were awarded with gift vouchers worth Rs.500 by the organizers Brain O Brian.

In the zonal school games and athletics championship conducted by Indra Gandhi Government Higher Sec. School, A. John Paul Raj and J. Breetlee of Std X bagged the first position in Carrom in the under-17 category.

PSBB goes green

Chennai: Padma Seshadri Bala Bhavan Senior Secondary School, T.Nagar launched ‘Khamba pots’, as a project of the Eco Club of the school. The pots are used for converting biodegradable waste from the canteen as well as garden waste into usable manure for the school garden.

Andrea DeArment, cultural affairs officer at the U.S. Consulate presided over the launch. She appreciated the effort as a great environmental initiative.
