What is Qwikipedia?

Ever been on Wikipedia to look up an article? More often than not, we start with one topic, click a few links and within no time are reading about something else.

Qwikipedia is a game that tries to quench this curiosity in us. The objective is to get to a particular Wiki page, starting from a specific article, using minimal clicks.

There is no single correct answer, so we might surprise ourselves by finding new routes each time!

Kaká —> Nile

Kaká

The inclusion of veteran Kaká in the Brazilian squad ahead of the World Cup qualifiers is news because there was a time when Kaká was considered one of the best players in the world. An attacking midfielder who currently plays for Orlando City SC in Major League Soccer, Kaká received the FIFA World Player of the Year and Ballon d’Or awards in 2007. At the club level, he made his mark at AC Milan and Real Madrid.

Off the field, Kaká is known for his humanitarian work. In fact, he became the youngest ambassador of the UN World Food Programme in 2004 and was also named in the Time 100 list of the world’s most influential people in 2008 and 2009.

Association Football

A sport played by two teams of eleven players each with a spherical ball – association football, or simply football, is as simple as that. But with millions playing around the world, and watching it if not playing, it is by far the most popular sport.

Kudos!

Roman Empire

Throughout history there were a number of sports that were similar to modern football. In the Roman Empire, there was a sport called harpastum that was played with a ball, though it was much smaller than a football and not to mention, the sport was more violent!

The Roman Empire was among the largest of its times, and had territories in Europe, North Africa and the Middle East.

The picture we have used shows the Hadrian’s Wall, which marked the northwest frontier of the empire and can still be seen in Northern England.

Nile

Most of the Mediterranean was part of the empire, and so were the rich plains of North Africa that were part of the Nile Valley in Egypt.

Considered the longest river in the world, the Nile is a north flowing river in Africa whose water resources are shared by more than 10 countries. The Nile has two major tributaries which are called as the White Nile and Blue Nile.

So the path that we travelled today is:

Kaká —> Association Football —> Roman Empire —> Nile

Three clicks! Hop over. It’s time for the next question:

Monday’s Marauder

Shark —> Aung San Suu Kyi
