What it is about…

Friends Pictures’ Sollamatten is a story of revenge taken by a ghost. The audio of the film, directed by N. P. Ismail, was released recently at a colourful function. Sivasakthi is the hero, and Jismi, the heroine. The others in the cast are Athirai, Athithya and Jithan. The camera is by Balu, the art is by Karthik and the music by Rajesh Mohan.

Music highlights

The album consists of five songs. ‘Kannal Pesividum Penne,’ written by N.P. Ismail and sung by Rajesh Mohan and Durga, passes muster. The director has also penned the next two numbers. While ‘Anbe,’ sung by Rajesh Mohan and Jothsana, is above average, ‘Nimmadhi Illa Oru,’ sung by Amal Aanrani, stands out for its meaningful lyrics. Sheikdasan has written a couple of interesting songs — ‘Kadhala Nan Sollamatten’ sung by the Hemambika, and ‘Kadhali’ sung by Ameer Khan.

What they say…

Producer Sahubar Sadiq: I am a businessman from Ramanathapuram District. When I listened to the storyline from Ismail, I found it interesting and felt it would make for an entertaining movie. My friends and I set up a production company called Friends Pictures to produce Sollamatten .

Director N.P. Ismail: I have worked with some directors in Tamil and Malayalam and made my first film, Singamugam , a couple of years ago. Sollamatten , my second, is a thriller with love and sentiment in the right measure. A young girl in a hill resort gets murdered. When a married couple visits the resort, the woman is possessed by the girl’s spirit haunting the place. How the spirit takes revenge on the killers forms an interesting climax.

Hero Sivasakthi: I finished my diploma in computer science and enrolled for a course in multimedia. Even as I was doing it, I got this opportunity to play the lead through my father Kandasamy, who has done Thayumanavan, a couple of years ago. Sollamatten has many interesting features that will make it click at the box office. Music director Rajesh Mohan: I am from Kerala and have composed jingles and for short films. I have also scored the music for four Malayalam feature films. Now thanks to director Ismail, a good friend of mine, I have composed the music for my first Tamil film, Sollamatten .
