Though the city is a nice and friendly place to live in, I wish the roads are more pedestrian- and cycle-friendly. Nowadays it is very dangerous to walk on the road at night. Stray dogs and potholes put your life at risk. I wish our city had more pavements and was free of stray dogs and garbage heaps on the roadside.

This charming city is developing at its own pace. But then, being an artiste, I wish there were theatres with more seating capacity, especially after the fiasco at the recent International Film Festival of Kerala. I also wish that something could be done about the attitude of the people, some of them are narrow minded and conservative in weird ways.

Dr. Sandhya

Executive Director & CEO, SK Hospital

My wish list is rather long. . I want the city to become more green, clean and safe. I hope common people become more aware of the SOPs of our governance and the authorities in turn attend to issues such as waste management, drinking water shortage, lack of toilets, and traffic jams. We need a better public transport system and parking space. Above all, I wish we had more all-women police stations with enough officers and facilities.

We need to find an immediate solution to the disposal of plastic waste; we ourselves can dispose off organic waste. It’s unbearable to see this pretty city of ours littered with mountains of garbage everywhere you turn. Political posters and hoardings that are plastered on every available surface, from walls to lampposts, also ruin the look and feel of the city. I think they should be banned completely. I wish the authorities would ban or, at least, regulate public protests, which make life so difficult for motorists.

Creative Director, Aum-I Artistes

I would like to see great venues for live music coming up in the city. Let there be more cafes and restaurants playing live bands. The city has some amazing musicians and bands but it currently lacks good venues.

S. Ajeetha Begum

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Law and Order)

On the personal front, I wish we could find a permanent solution for managing waste menace. Like many others, I am also finding it difficult to dispose garbage. On the professional front, I would like to see the implementation of the Central Government-sponsored Safe City project under which we would be able to make the city more safe and secure.
