Dual role

If you are wondering what’s new about the Ameer-directed Aadhi Baghavan , featuring Jayam Ravi and Neetu Chandra in the lead, here it is — Ravi plays a double role in it.

“For a long time, people were under the impression that Ravi plays only one role in the film. But that’s not to be. He is both Aadhi and Baghavan,” informs a source.

The source also adds that the last fight sequence, a major one, is being canned and shooting will be wrapped up in 15 days.

Ameer is eager to finish this film which has been in the making for quite some time.

Santhanam turns producer

You read that right! Comedian Santhanam is turning producer with a Tamil film. That’s not all, he is also turning hero with it. The film, to be jointly produced by Rama Narayanan and Santhanam, is titled Kanna Laddu Thinna Aasaiya . Helmed by Manikantan, the film, apart from having a large dose of humour, highlights the importance of friendship. Visakha is to play the heroine. Thaman scores the music for the lyrics penned by Viveka.

Shooting has already commenced at Kumbakonam. The unit is likely to shoot in other places such as Karaikudi, Devakottai and Sivaganga.

Doctor-actor

Thananya, who made her debut in Kollywood with Kunguma Poovum Konjum Puravum , is back with Veyilodu Vilaiyadu , directed by Ramkumar V. What is interesting to note is the actor has now completed her degree in medicine.

Says Thananya: “My first film happened when I was in my third year of medicine. Director Rajmohan, who saw me, approached me for the role then. He narrated the story but my parents, who are also doctors, were not convinced. However, I decided to go ahead with it as I was impressed with the script. Besides, producer S. P. Charan told me that my character would remain etched in the minds of the audience. I played the role of Tulasi, which was crucial to the storyline. I had a month’s leave in May and intended to finish work during that time. It got extended but I managed to complete my portions.”

“After KPKP , I decided nothing should distract me from studies. Just when I was a house surgeon, Ramkumar came up with a story. He said the characterisation would be completely different from the one I portrayed earlier. It seemed interesting. So, I took it up and in the meanwhile, I finished my medical studies too!”
