Reema Sen

Reema Sen

Reema's big day

Fans of Reema Sen, who were concerned whether the actor would continue to act after her wedding, may heave a sigh of relief. Reema, who tied the knot with Shiv Karan Singh at a grand ceremony on March 11 at a farm house in Delhi, has confirmed that she will.

“At the moment, I have two films — “Gangs of Wasseypur,” directed by Anurag Kashyap, and the other with Rahul Dholakia — awaiting release. I haven't signed any fresh projects, but hope to do so soon,” says Reema, who also informs that she will change her surname, unlike a few others who prefer to retain their maiden name even after marriage. “But the ‘Sen' part of my name will remain though,” she adds.

Sources present at the wedding say it was well-attended with over 2,000 people turning up. “Around 500 turned up for the Mehndi and around 1,200 were present at the Youngsters' Night,” says a source, who also informs, “Union Minister Kamal Nath, Minister of State Sachin Pilot and cricketers Murali Kartik and Ajay Jadeja were among those who attended the wedding. From the Tamil film industry, several actors including Sonia Aggarwal, Shriya Saran, Lakshmi Rai, Namitha and Lissy Priyadarshan and director Dharani were there to greet the star on her special day.”

Making a valid point

Ramkumar, director of “Ethiri En 3,” is a man on a mission. Ram, whose film is about dacoits looting cash being taken to a bank, believes we need more institutions to fight organised crime. “In the U.S., they have the Special Weapons And Tactics (SWAT) units to handle problems such as these. In India, we have the Anti Terrorist Squad at the national level and the Organised Crime Intelligence Unit (OCIU) in Tamil Nadu. It's only five months since the OCIU was set up and therefore it will take time to launch full-fledged operations. But we need more such entities at the state level to fight organised crime and this is the point my film seeks to emphasise,” he says. The recent bank robberies have only reinforced the director's belief that more such units need to be put in place to check crime. “People have become greedy and that is why there is a rise in such crimes,” says Ram, whose film features Srikanth, Prabhu, Sampath, Poonam Bajwa, Uma Padmanabhan, Suman and Jayaprakash among others. “Srikanth, who plays a software professional in my film, had to shoot for ‘Nanban' for four months and therefore was not available. We plan to resume shooting next week,” he says.

Agaradhi at last

A year after completion, the film “Agaradhi” is to finally hit the screens on March 23. According to director Naga Venkatesh, “The film is based on a crime thriller titled ‘Iravu Nera Vanavil'. We plan to release it in two languages, Tamil and Telugu. While the film will be called ‘Agaradhi' in Tamil, it will be ‘Vaibhogam' in Telugu,” he informs.

The film features Monika, Oviya, Keerthi Chawla, Pradeep and Pawan in important roles. Interestingly, this film was supposed to mark the debut of actor Oviya, who shot into the limelight with Kalavaani.
