Sakshi Agarwal of Yoogan fame is pretty candid with her thoughts. In just a snap of a finger, she blurts out two names from the Tamil cinema whom she wants to work with — actor Karthi and director A.R. Murugadoss. Sakshi says with a blush, “I know people might think it is funny that I am not going for the bigger names, but I just find Karthi very genuine. His acting is so seamless, and I think if given an opportunity to share screen space with him, I will learn a lot!”
And why Murugadoss? “It’s his simplicity! He is so good at his work, but as a person, he is so down-to-earth,” she lets on, on the sidelines of the launch of Autumn Winter Collection lookbook at Max, ECR, recently.
Sakshi, who is an Anna University gold medallist and MBA topper, worked as a consultant in a top MNC before moving to modelling. After starring in a few of commercials, she launched herself in Kannada film Heddari, and was shooting for another, when she got an offer for Yoogan , a horror flick that released earlier this year.
Though she is just one-film-old in Tamil cinema, over the past two years, Sakshi has been working on three projects — Thiruttu VCD , Kakakapo and Aathiyan . Now, she says, is the time for back-to-back releases. While Thiruttu VCD will release on September 18, Aathiyan will hit screens on October 15, and Kakakapo later this year. While Thiruttu VCD will see the comeback of actor and comedian Senthil, Aathiyan has Abhimanyu Raj, actor Sathyaraj’s nephew, launching himself.
Talk about her co-actors, and Sakshi has a long list to mention, thanks to the 33-artiste strong film Kakakapo (expands to ‘Kavitha Kannadasan Kadalika Poranga’). While Keshav, who plays Kannadasan, is a debut actor, the film is replete with experienced ones like Power Star, Robo Shankar, Madan Babu, and many others. “I even had an opportunity to act with Shakeela. I have a part with everyone! It has been such a learning experience for me — be it in terms of acting, observing their dedication and professionalism,” she says.
In Aathiyan , Sakshi plays a NIFT student — a shift from her simple, minimal-makeup looks in the others, she says. “One scene was particularly fun while shooting. I had to ride a motorbike from Mayajaal to Mahabalipuram, and everyone on the way was staring at me and my friend seated on the pillion. Getting all that attention was exciting,” she says with a laugh.
