Bags out of tailoring waste, curios made out of recycled bottles and bamboo wind chimes…a sale of recycled and eco-friendly products is on at Lumiere restaurant at Panampilly Nagar.

SangaMitra with its eco-message bags in beautiful colours and designs or rather shapes and Hard Liquid with its recycled glass curios make a strong case for the environment cause. Bright colours and well thought-out combinations, as always, add to the charm of the SangaMitra bags. The brand making bags out of recycled tailoring waste boasts of a finish and designs that are exclusive to it.

This time round, Radha Gomathy, the brain behind the brand, has gone a step forward and experimented with shapes and designs. There are bags, which are like the ‘jhola', mobile phone pouches (some with two compartments), duffel bags, totes, college bags in cheery colour combinations…there is a bag for everybody.

Hard Liquid with its curios, more utilitarian products such as trays, bowls, wall pieces made of bottles is a fascinating twist to the whole recycle cause. This is the brainchild of Joy G. Menachery.

Wind chimes made of bamboo complete the troika. Although there is just one bamboo wind chime on display, Rajeev of Windcraft will take orders for those. Making a wind chime out of bamboo is a time consuming process and therefore it cannot be mass produced. The exhibition concludes on May 15.
