As “Chhota Bheem” takes stage in a musical play, director Sachin Gupta tells us what’s on the cards Reshell Pinto

Chhota Bheem a name very popular among children for his adventures and moral stories is all set to come out of the animation series to perform in a musical play at the Siri Fort Auditorium this Friday. It is being dubbed as a unique show, where the young audience will be a part of the act and will see their favourite cartoon hero up close. Chhota Bheem and his friends will be seen performing live on the set of Dholakpur village

Director Sachin Gupta says, “The time that I have spent working, reading, scripting and directing the stage shows and the story line with these young actors has filled my life with joy. Each day was thunder ride to my childhood days. This experience makes me feel young again.”

Sachin has directed about 75 plays and was recently in news for his film Thoda Lutf Thoda Ishq . “ The play will create a new life for the animated character Bheem where the audience will be experiencing an event where they will feel that they themselves are a part of the musical through the set up of the stage and by doing so they will be expanding the genre of wholesome entertainment.”

Chhota Bheem first premiered in 2008 on Pogo. Sameer Jain, Chief Executive of Green Gold, the company behind Chota Bheem , Mighty Raju and Luv and Kush, says, “Bheem was developed with the idea of inculcating certain moral values among children as there were no such prominent Indian cartoon figure and this is how we came up with the idea of Chota Bheem. Initially Chota Bheem was rejected by many channels. When Pogo was approached they agreed to telecast it as they were already troubled and the journey of Chota Bheem started with 12 episodes. We never thought that this animation series will get a good response but the results were shocking and rest is the history.”

The musical is going to be a three day event where total 9 shows will be performed by the artists.
