Michael: Mochael Jackson

Album: Michael

Artist: Michael Jackson

Buy: Must buy!

King of Pop — Michael Jackson —needs no introduction. Back in the 1980s, the radio stations never grew tired as they played his songs from albums like “Off the wall” and “Thriller”. One of the most influential artists in the music industry is back with a posthumous album titled “MICHAEL”. There have been several rumours that it wasn't Michael's voice in this album, but when you listen to these tracks you feel like saying “Yeah, it is Michael indeed” and his voice is pitch-perfect. The album has got 10 tracks. This new album has already heightened expectations since this is an album with all-new material. The last album with new songs titled “Invincible” was released almost a decade ago.

The album opens with a duet with Akon. “Hold my hand” is cool, catchy and a definitely a No.1 hit. “Hollywood tonight” is quite upbeat and peppy. Another hit ballad (my favorite) is “Keep your head up”, about a lady woking in a restaurant and her struggle in life.. A Love song (very similar to “I just can't stop loving you”) is (I Like) “ The Way You Love Me”. Good one. “Monster” (featuring 50 cent) hits back at the critics and the paparazzi who continued to hound Michael's life. “Breaking news” is another similar attempt and the song reminds you of “My prerogative” by Britney Spears.

Another Collaboration, perhaps the biggest hit of this album is Michael's hit with Rocker Lenny Kravitz “(I Can't Make It) Another Day”. I just wish Michael Jackson and Lenny Kravitz could have worked on one entire album. “Best of Joy” is a good filler and “Behind the mask” is full of energy and the album ends with a very slow, sweet number called “Much too soon”.

This album cannot be compared to “Thriller”, “Bad” or “Dangerous” and the absence of Michael Jackson will definitely play its part on the impact this album produces, but still is a great treat from one of the best entertainers we ever had.
