There is a saying, ‘Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.’ Summer break is the best time to learn something different. Once these holidays were meant to be a time for catching up on your sleep or spending more time with friends. Nowadays, parents are concerned about proper utilisation of this period. They encourage their kids to participate in extracurricular activities and bring out their hidden talent. A study tells that these workshops are helpful for the physical and mental development of children.
Keeping this in mind, India Habitat Centre organising a summer workshop for children. This programme covers various fields and has big names on board to conduct the workshops.
This programme consists of nine workshops – art appreciation by Priya Pall, creative writing by Sanjula Sharma, theatre by Srita Vohra and Narayan Sagar and Barry John acting studio, music by Shankar Mahadevan academy, storytelling by Ashish Ghosh and Renuka Narayanan, quilled Jewellery by Mala Gupta and workshop on magic by Prof. Kamesh.
Another such summer activity that is attracting kids this summer is the Summer Safari in DLF Saket. The Safari guarantees the children an adventurous, active and fun-filled summer. To inspire the young minds, the Summer Safari has introduced the reading club for children-tales by noted literary figures every weekend.
The kids can also indulge in activities like art craft like painting, collage making, origami and much more, organised by Colour Maths. Interesting crafts like hand-printed cards, paper plates, puppets, spoon dolls, bookmarks, wall stickers, etc. are also taught in the daily interactive classes for the children.
In the words of Benu Sehgal, the Vice President, Mall head-DLF Place, Saket, “In this scorching summer there is unlimited time to spend on video games and television, but the Summer Safari encourages kids to come out and explore their creative side and learn new things that will help them in their overall development.”
Summer Safari also holds jungle-themed kids play corner in the city. Every summer parents come to shop in the DLF mall to make their kids part of this event. “To be a part of this event, all you have to do is, show your shopping bill and your kid can be part of this event for free,” Sehgal added.
