To watch Charlie Brown tongue-tied around the little red-haired girl is an absolute delight. This eight-year old has taught us some valuable lessons- you don't need a head full of hair or be a baseball champ to win hearts. After all, happiness is a warm puppy. And that is what Charlie Brown and Snoopy leave us with at the end of The Peanuts Movie – warm, fuzzy feelings and a truckload of nostalgia.

Replete with the trademark Peanuts witticisms and life lessons packed into one-liners, fans feel that the film has done justice to Charles M. Schulz and his 2D creations. The twitterati took to using #PeanutsMovie to express their love for the little boy and his dog.

Maria Sonali, a 19 year old student, who caught the movie on the day of its release gushes, “It was perfect! I was initially apprehensive as to whether it would match up to the standards that the comic had set. But it was a joy to watch.”

The Peanuts Movie has received a Golden Globe nomination in the category of Best Animated Feature Film and opened to a roaring response at the box-office. While some fans of the comic are excited about the movie, others are sceptical. Leah Thomas, student, says, “If you really like a book or a comic strip, you will always find flaws when it is turned into a movie. Movies tend to mess-up the picture of the characters that you have in your head.” Rabin Jacob concurs.

“I would like to watch the movie, but I feel that comics look better in 2D.” On the other hand, Ravi, who runs Goobe’s Book Republic on Church Street, is excited about the release. “Movies are like an added bonus to the comics.

For their sheer visual appeal, watching such movies at the theatre is worth the money. The Marvel and DC Comics have been recreated quite well as movies. So, I would definitely give The Peanuts Movie a chance,” he says. It is not just the kids who enjoy watching Charlie Brown chase the Little Red-Haired Girl. Peanuts has a wide fan following across all ages.

That wide pencil-drawn smile that stretches from ear to ear, and Snoopy’s droopy dog ears have melted many a heart with their words of wisdom.

“Whenever I feel really alone, I sit and stare into the night sky. I’ve always thought that one of those stars was my star, and at moments like this, I know that my star will always be there for me. Like a comfortable voice saying, ‘Don’t give up, kid’.”
