There are so many games we play on the Internet. What about clicking on one that can help you fight social evils? A ceramics company has put together an online game on the social networking site Facebook which can help non-governmental organisations fight various social evils. The company, Orient Ceramics and industries Limited (OCIL), has uploaded the game, “Kill Civil Evil” on its Facebook page titled “We Cover Beautifully”. The game has a list of civil evils prevailing in the society along with a catalogue of NGOs working against various social evils. A user can choose any evil and play the game and kill it. With each killing, a sum of Rs.5 is donated to a particular NGO working against that particular crime. A company note says, “This is one of our CSR initiatives. The basic concept behind it is to raise awareness about civil crimes among the young generation. We thought of Facebook because of its increasing popularity among the youth. Since its launch four months ago, the game has got more than 1,10,000 fans.” The link to the page is http:apps.facebook.com/killcivilevil/?ref=ts
For architects and designers
In yet another initiative, the company has instituted a trophy for budding students of architecture and interior designing. The Orient Bell Fountainhead Trophy, mentions the note, “is inspired by Ayn Rand's famous novel ‘Fountainhead' and was given shape by the company's passion for creativity.”
“The trophy showcases a bird flying out of a creative mind. This shows our search for someone with an ability to think out of the box, someone who is ready to soar high in the field of interior designing,” it says.
