The night sky, millions of twinkling stars forming the roof and noisy Arabian sea bringing icy winds created a perfect setting for Mangaluru’s music aficionados at Panambur seashore. JDL Music House, a Mangaluru-based band, got the crowds grooving to some extraordinary songs. The Karavali Beach Utsav was organised by Dakshina Kannada district administration .

The group was formed in 2013 after Joel Maxwell Rebello, Darrel Mascarenhas and Lavita Lobo decided to give their passion a try. Lavita works as a radio jockey, Joel is a promo producer for an FM station and Darrel is popular on Youtube, for his experiments with Bollywood songs. With music in their blood, the band offers a mix of pop and rock and a blend of Indian and Western music. The band sings in Tulu, Konkani, Kannada, Hindi and English, and believes that where music rules, language is no barrier.

Thecombo of Joel Maxwell Rebello and the charming Lavita Lobo had the crowd in raptures. The duo’s ‘Tum hi ho’ captured their imagination. They also danced to ‘Sheila ki Jawani’. The audience demanded an encore. As the show went on, a section of the crowd whistled. Joel played a beautiful number from Barfi . He also sang Akasha Deepavu Neenu from Pavana Ganga and many other songs including Bollywood mixes, old Kannada and English songs.Soon the beach became a dance floor with some joining the singers on the stage .

With some peppy songs at the end, the crowd, the musicians got on their feet, and grooved for a long time .
