While her contemporaries hit the gym to look in fine fettle, singer Shibani Kashyap’s first and foremost priority is to keep her throat in good condition.

Explaining that her outlook towards fitness is completely different, Shibani says, “I do Vishuddhi flexes, a throat chakra, which is done on throat to keep it healthy all the time. For a singer it is important to keep one’s throat healthy so that one can sing well.”

The artiste, who performed at the anniversary event of Dramz Whiskey Bar and Lounge at Mehrauli recently, says various combination of power yoga, ashtang yoga, Iyengar yoga and functional training are her fitness secrets. It keeps her free from stress and helps her concentrate on her music. Shibani practises surya namaskar, the asana which combines several exercises and is a holistic way to take care of one’s entire body. She does it whenever she gets time.

According to Shibani, even if a person does heavy exercises, jogging or cycling, he/ she must practise yoga at least for three days in a week. “It is important to bring this in one’s fitness regime.”

Reflecting on martial arts as an option for fitness, Shibani — who was recently seen doing martial art sequences in Ranveer-The Martial — says that she advises every parents to train their child in martial arts as it has enormous benefits. “I used to practise martial arts before shoots because I realised the power which it gives and the confidence it builds in you.”

As far as regular fitness is concerned, Shibani says she never misses her two to three hours of fitness routine with her trainer even when she is preoccupied with other things. “If I do not follow my routine my whole day would go groggy and I would take wrong decisions or be rude to people. So I never miss my fitness routine so that my whole day goes so magically well,” adds Shibani, who hails from Delhi.

Shibani is a non-vegetarian but keeps away from fried foods and spicy food. “I have to keep my diet high on protein as I have to do heavy workout.”

As correct food timings are also crucial to health, she ensures she eats on time. She has her dinner around 8 p.m. and if it’s late she only takes soups or grilled vegetables which are healthy alternatives and easily digestible. “I have never been to a dietician. I keep my system clean by switching to healthier alternatives which keeps me going,” says the singer.
