Tucked away on 12th Main, Indiranagar, is a little store that spells “happiness and cheer” even before you enter it. The Yellow Button's joyful blue and yellow flower-button beckons you to walk into a little world of beautiful things.

Madhavi Rongala-Pavuluri, owner of the store, tells us that it all started with her little idea to get back to work after she had her kids. However, she was very certain that she did not want to return to the nine-to-five routine of a corporate job; instead, she wanted to do something she would have fun with. At Yellow Button, you can find clothes, accessories, flip-flops, baskets, stoles, jewellery, handbags, and pretty home accessories. Madhavi has taken care to stock multiple brands in each category. And so, you have clothes by brands like Black Sheep, Aakar, United Designers, and so on. From pretty short dresses, with tie-ups and frills, to kaftan-style/sleevless ones, the garments are easy to pick up, and priced under Rs. 3,000. Another range showcases formal evening dresses that fashionistas will love.

Also on sale, are short, layered tops and evening wear in silk, besides a range of sequined long kurtas. Women those who love their cottons, will enjoy the collection titled Prakrutik, with Indo-western designer styles.

Accessories include hand-painted stoles from Kye, raw silk ones by Umoya or Noil Silk ones from Creative Bee (Rs. 950 upwards); unique pieces of jewellery in metal or jewellery in semi-precious stones by Pitaara and Riya Joseph, or Riddika Jesrani. Or get yourself an evening bag, be it a clutch or a pretty tote or even a hold-all. Of course, there are also a selection of every-day bags from multiple brands like Kala Koyree (in jute) and Amaniya (beautiful ones in brocade).

“Each piece is personally chosen at Yellow Button, because it's something I would wear myself,” adds Madhavi, who assures us that 90 per cent of the labels she retails, are not available in Bangalore. Indeed, some are really one-of-their-kind, like 36 Rang, a label by the prison inmates of Chhatisgarh. The brand brings out pretty-hand painted pouches, t-shirts and tote bags, all available at Yellow Button. But the store's social touch doesn't end here. Yet another NGO makes it to the shelves of Yellow Button – the M.Rm.Rm. Foundation, which works with women in Tamil Nadu, supplies baskets of all sorts – trays, lunch bags, picnic baskets, fruit baskets, etc. to Yellow Button.

Hand-painted cushion covers by Kye and those with Shibori work by Umoya, add a different touch to your home, as do the little somethings that Yellow Button stocks – magnetic key holders, coasters, USB drives, mobile pouches, pen holders, handmade soaps by VANA, and so on. Go ahead, get yourself a little bit of sunshine from the store. Yellow Button can be contacted at 080 25262108 / 91 9741511733.
