With the party season in full swing, I’m sure you’ve got your dancing shoes on, your fancy clothes laid out...
And just like your clothes, which change with every season, the hair and make-up does too... so try these ideas out if you’re in the mood for something a little different.
Let’s start with a sprinkle of glitterNow party + glitter = obvious. However, switch that glitter a little. Instead of a glittery eyelid, try using matte eyeshadow on your eyelid and use a glitter eyeliner or a glittery-winged liner.
A traditional black glittery liner could make a statement on its own, but colour makes even more of an impact. I’m particularly partial to dark blue or purple glittery liners because they compliment our Indian skin so well.
Another great place for glitter is the inner corner, by your tear duct. I love using a pale champagne glitter to highlight the inner corner, while giving the eyes a more angelic appearance.
A little tip while using glitter? Either get yourself a glitter glue and tackle the eye section by section, or to make things even easier – get a glitter eyeliner and layer it!
Highlight that skinI’m all for a strong highlight to the skin. I love it when the skin looks wet from all that shimmer. I would also love it if my highlight was visible from outer space, every day (But that’s probably just me).
But this is your perfect excuse to ditch that matte skin and highlight the highpoints of your face, like there is no tomorrow.
Apart from the usual places (tops of the cheekbones, above the arch of the brow, down the bridge of your nose), I would say highlight the cupid’s bow (the upper lip). It looks stunning and makes your lips appear fuller, and gives you more of a pout.
Go boldAh, the bold lip – is a definite must. However, this season, ditch the matte bold lips and go for glossy shiny lips.
You could use a gloss over your favourite matte lipstick, or even tap some of that glitter over the centre of your lips.
Purples, deep plums, chocolate browns and wine shades are majorly on trend this season, so if you fancy ditching that classic red, try any of these colours for a statement lip!
Flutter awayAnd lastly, just like the highlight – the eyes, the lips – go all out with the lashes (It’s the holiday season; it’s the best excuse there is!). Strip lashes are great if you want that flat-out fabulous flutter, but if you fancy subtle-but-still-obvious lashes, try individual lashes (which can be a pain, based on your patience levels). For something in between, I like to cut the inner part of my lash band, so the lashes lay on the outer half, making things more comfortable yet sultry!
Some new, some old, and some slightly out there party trends and ideas for you – try them out! And remember, the aim is to have a blast, so highlight that skin, paint that pout and dance your night away!
