The two day ‘Tupperware mela' at MADITSSIA Hall roped in many women in search of opportunities to earn money.
Eleven stalls were erected and aptly named after the products. Of them, two with mounted paintings depicting versatile usage of Tupperware and how the products help to keep the stored food fresh and nutritious, aroused curiosity among the visitors.
The 'Lunch and Outdoor' section showcased a variety of lunch carriers with colourful insulated bags. Under the ‘beat the heat', were presented cool-coloured trendy water bottles while ‘store smart' had different types and sizes of canisters for storing all types of .
‘Cook easy' and ‘dine in style' projected a smart kitchen where cooking is made easy with utensils that can be microwaved. The ‘cool and trendy' and ‘dry storage' divisions promised visitors with boxes that keep away insects.
‘Tupperware temptations' added value to the mela with new arrivals like water bottles and rainbow tumblers in new colours, trendy lunch bags, giant canisters, fridge smart sets and keep tabs container set.
At ‘change, climb and conquer‘ stall, interested women were told about the available business opportunities and how they could join. "Chain of confidence is a campaign, which provides opportunity to women with an urge to earn. The mela is an attempt to bring in more women into this chain," said Devasena Murali, distributor.
According to her, in and around Madurai and neighbouring districts, as many as 6,200 women are involved in Tupperware business.
The products are solely represented by women and part of the proceeds go to physically challenged and literacy India programme for girl children's right to education, she added.
