The finale of the season 5 of the popular series Game of Thrones raised more questions than providing answers. Jon Snow was left in the snow stabbed by members of the Nights watch led by Olly, Cersei Lannister was forced to atone for her sins by walking naked across King’s Landing by a bunch of religious fanatics, Stannis was left to die after failing in his pursuit of capturing Winterfell from the Bolton’s, while Tyrion Lannister was facing a rebellion and Queen of Dragon’s Daenerys Targaryen has been captured by tribesman resembling the Dothraki. How the series will move forward is what has kept fans of the series Game of Thrones guessing, as the next season of the series premières on Monday. If in the real world, hope is the one thing that keeps us going, the reverse is true in the GOT universe, where characters are bumped for no reason, powerful women are humiliated publically, popular characters suffer painful deaths and distinctions between good and evil change from episode to episode. From the last season onwards, the series based on Song of Ice and Fire , a set of books written by George RR Martin has veered off the books, giving new twists to the plotlines of many characters.

As the TV series moves into uncharted territory, with Martin yet to complete the books, speculation is rife on how the latest series is going to pan out. Jon Snow’s fate is still being speculated, despite Kit Harington, who plays Snow announcing that he will only be playing a corpse in this season. In the GOT universe, fans hope that the red haired sorceress Melisandre will resurrect the commander of the Night’s Watch. Besides, being dead is no disqualification in GOT verse, case in point being the White Walkers. The fate of people’s favourite, Tyrion Lannister, last seen stuck in midst of a rebellion or the mother of dragons, transported to a land with a group of riders similar to the Dotharaki is also unknown. Will the queen of dragons be forced into slavery? One would hope that these two come together and mount a formidable challenge for the Iron Throne. From being the power behind the throne in the first couple of seasons, Cersei’s stock has fallen in the last two seasons. Her son and father have been murdered, her daughter might have been killed and her son’s kingdom is governed by a bunch of religious fanatics, who humiliated her. How she plots revenge on those who humiliated her and whether she will be backed by her brother/lover Jaime in her plans also seems to be a key plotline this season.

Stannis Baratheon, was never a crowd favourite and burning his daughter at the stake has pushed off even his ardent supporters towards backing the White walkers, the army of zombies who are on the verge of invading Westeros from the north. If he survives, will he manage to save Reek and Sansa Stark, following their escape from Winterfell and somehow get his army back on his side to mount a fresh assault on King’s Landing? Will Bran Stark be back in action and as one of the trailers suggest, will he be able to walk? To find out, how the season actually does pan out, catch the episodes as Season 6 premieres on Star World Premiere HD on Tuesday at 10 p.m.

As Winter is coming, we hope it brings us some answers as well.
