In for a splash of colours

On March 20, students across 11 centres participated in The Hindu Young World painting competition showcasing their talents on canvas.

Children created magic with their paints, brushes and crayons at The Hindu Young World annual painting competition and there was no holding them back. The participating students were divided into two categories — juniors (Std. IV to VI) and seniors (Std. VII to IX). The topics given on the spot were ‘Fun in the Sun’, ‘Outside my Window’ and ‘Food Fair’ for the juniors, while the seniors had to choose from ‘A Scene in the Kitchen’, ‘My Hometown Railway Station’ and ‘Emotions’.

Bengaluru

In the juniors category, Vinamra N. of Samved School, J.P. Nagar won first prize followed by Sneha Sridhar, of PSBB Learning Leadership Academy and Thriambika Raman of Sindhi High School, Kempapura respectively. Sreya Gopakumar of Prarthana School, Padmanabhanagar won in the seniors category and Amruthavarshini M. of SSM Public School and Nibin Baiju of Delhi Public School, Bengaluru East were adjudged runners up. Around 500 students participated in the event which was held in Army Public School.

Coimbatore

Among the 400 students who participated, M. K. Haramba Gowri of Bharathi MHSS came first in the juniors category while P. Sarvesh of Lisieux MHSS and Shri Nikesh J. Ray of Stanes Anglo Indian HSS were runners up. In the seniors category, Mehak Khemka of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan won the first prize as Keerthivasan of Bharathi MHSS and S.K. Kiran Sara of C.S. Academy were the runners up. The competition was held in Thiruchitrambalam Hall at Avinashilingam University.

Hubballi

Basavaraj H. Veerapur of Bapuji International School, Badagandi, Bagalkot was the winner in the juniors category while K. Sai Satvika of AECS School, Kaiga Township and Karthik V. Kurahatti of V.S. Pillay English Medium School, Hubballi were adjudged runners up. In senior category, Drishti Mahajan of Dr. G.V. Joshi English Medium School, Hubballi came first followed by Pratibha P. Kulkarni of KLE Society’s School, Gadag and Kiran G. Kundaragi, Bapuji International School, Badagandi. Around 250 students took part in the event which was held in Dr. G.V. Joshi English Medium School.

Mangaluru

At St. Rita School, Jeppu, around 250 students participated in the competition. In the juniors category, Mokshit Suresh of Delhi Public School, Mangaluru was adjudged the winner and Arya P.R. of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Madikeri and M.K. Saham of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Madikeri were runners up. Gauravdev H.B. of St. Aloysius High School, Kodialbail won in the seniors category followed by Raeesha, IX, Madava Kripa School, Manipal and M. Siri Subash, VII, St. Aloysius English Medium School, Urwa.

Mumbai

Around 100 children were present at the Bombay Stock Exchange building to participate in the competition, which saw Sashank Kanojiya win the first prize in the juniors category, followed by Jayrak Gajanan Rathi and Karan Sandeep Salvi. In the seniors section, Rutuja Ranjit Kathapurkar won the first prize while Sagun S. Chatla and Chinmay Sanjay Videkar were the first and second runners up.

Thiruvananthapuram

The event, which was held in Navajeevan Bethany Vidyalaya, saw the participation of around 100 students. Akshay V. A. of Nazareth Home English Medium School, Balaramapuram, won the first prize in the juniors category, and Fathima C.M. of St. Mary’s HSS, Pattom and Adeep Salu of Nirmala Bhavan HSS, Kowdiar were adjudged the runners up. Surya Jayakumar of Army Public School, Pangode came first in the seniors category, followed by A.M. Maheedhar of KV Pattom and Karthika Mahesh J. of Holy Angels’, Nanthancode as the runners up.

Tiruchi

Over 400 students showed up for the competition held at Cauvery College for Women. R. Nandhini of Blossom Public School, Thanjavur was adjudged the winner in the juniors category while B. Sreeni of Care International School, Tiruchi, and R. Rohini of Sri Sankara Vidyalaya, Karur were the runners up. M. Adinath of Kamala Niketan Montessori School, Tiruchi won the first place in the seniors category while A. Janua Crispin of St. Joseph’s Anglo Indian HSS, Tiruchi and N. Arun Prasanth of Kongu Vellalar MHSS, Karur were the runners up.

Tirunelveli

Nearly 400 students participated in the event held at Bell Matriculation Higher Secondary School. B.K. Shreya Madhu Bala of Sri Jeyendra Silver Jubilee MHSS came first in the juniors category followed by S. Amalathithan of Bharath Vidya Mandir and S. Bhuvan Nainar of Sri Jeyendra Silver Jubilee MHSS. In the seniors category, S. Sahaya Arlin Nathinsha of Subbiah Vidyalaya Girls’ Higher Secondary School came first, with G. Ranga Srinivas of Sri Jeyendra Silver Jubilee MHSS and T. Shanti Kritika of Vedic Vidyashram School being adjudged runners up.

Tirupati

T. Leela Manasa of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Tirupati won in the junior category while V. Raja Rajeswari of Gurukul English Medium School, Tirupati won the same in the seniors category. A. Vineela of Ratnam Model School, Nellore and T. Naga Swetha of Silver Oaks High School, Tirupati were adjudged the runners up in the juniors category while A. Kavya of APRSW School, Srikalahasti and W. Sandhya of Sri Venkateswara Children’s High School, Tirupati, were the runners up in the seniors category. It was held at the Regional Science Centre.

Vijayawada

The Maris Stella College was abuzz with the enthusiasm of over 400 students who participated. Srikakolapu Satwik of Narayana Techno School, Razole won the first place in juniors category followed by Mohammad Akif of DAV Public School, Ibrahimpatnam and N.S.L.F. Yasasvi, KV ONGC School, Rajahmundry as runners up. P. Saaketh of V.P. Siddhartha Public School, Vijayawada secured first place in the seniors category while V. Bhashita of Dr. K.K.R. Gowtham School, Machilipatnam and J. Sreeka of V.P. Siddhartha Public School, Vijayawada were adjudged runners up.

Visakhapatnam

At the CMR Function Hall, Venkojipalem, around 450 students assembled to take part in the event. In the juniors category, Heau Mishr of Delhi Public School, Bhilai won the first prize, followed by Pyla Ramya of Sri Prakash Vidyaniketan, Pendurthi and Alla Manasa of Sanskruthi Global School, Visakhapatnam. In the seniors category, Bokam Gandhi Naidu of Sri Sathya Sai Gurukulam, Rajamundry was adjudged the winner while Jeau Mishr of Delhi Public School, Bhilai and K. Balaji of Sri Prakash Vidyaniketan, Pendurthi were the runners up.
