A trip to the beach and back. Can we do something other than running around? Something to help the environment?
When I was in my first grade, we visited the beach. But then all my classmates were protesting.
“Beach? Beach? What are we going to do on some stupid beach?”
“Teacher, let’s not go there.”
“Please change the place. We want to go to a theme park.”
“Every weekend it’s the beach. I am fed up of the beach!”
I agreed with them.
Then Mrs. D, our class teacher convinced some of us, that the trip would be definitely fun. Anyway, since there was no other option, we agreed.
The day of the trip came, and we boarded the bus. After half an hour or so, we reached our destination. Mrs. D grouped us and I was with my two best friends. The first activity was to collect trash lying around in the beach. Odd activity, right? But it would help many living organisms. The plastic that was lying around would harm the aquatic animals, sometimes, even causing death. I found a tube light! Imagine what would happen if the glass pieces of the tube light had drifted into the sea? I informed my class teacher about this. She said, “Now you know the importance of throwing waste in their proper place? I nodded. Then we all assembled and the group with the most trash received a prize.
Another reason why a beach should be kept clean at all times is that sometimes whales might get beached. If the beached whales end up in a dirty beach, the rescue team cannot work with speed. If the whale is on the beach too long, it can die.
So, please think twice before you throw waste on the beach.
