Arangu, which is very similar to the age old custom of arangettram (debut) where kids submit themselves and their talents as an offering to goddess Saraswati, the mother of all arts. The Adventures of Tom Sawyer authored by the legendary writer Mark Twain took the centre stage at Natyarangam, an annual theatre production by the Dramatics Club of Vidyodaya School , held recently. The work was selected in keeping with the death centenary of the author. Different parts of the story — Tom gets the Bible, At the graveyard, Towards Jackson island, Monday morning and White washing the fence — were played out by over 136 students from classes Std VI to XII. Right from designing the poster to deciding the props, this much awaited event showcased all the innate talents and ideas of a kid that only drama can bring out.
